On Tuesday, February 17th, Bob and I took a drive to Sierra Vista, Arizona. We stopped at a chapel located high on a hill in the Huchuca Mountains. The shrine was completed in 1998. A waterfall cascades down from a rock formation behind the large cross (75 foot Celtic cross). To the right of the cross is a 31 foot statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The stone chapel is constucted out of river rock. The chapel is one of the largest stone structures in Southeast Arizona. It is a beautiful and serene setting. Bob and I spent some meditation time there and took some beautiful photos. If you are in the area, please stop and visit. It is worth the trip.
Some family news: our niece, Lorri and her husband, Drew, had their first baby on February 17th-a little girl-Ella Rose. Mom and baby are doing great. Welcome to the family Baby Ella Rose.
As always, we miss our friends and family and appreciate them very much.

I'll Be Your Huckleberry....
On Saturday, February 14th, Bob and I went to Tombstone. It was a drive of about 30 miles from our RV park. We had a very nice day-temperatures were in the high 60's. When we arrived at Tombstone, we parked the car and right next to us was a car with Missouri plates. We talked to the people and they were from Poplar Bluff.
We took a trolley tour around Tombstone. The town was started by Ed Schefflin. He would walk out to his desert claim, sure that he would strike it rich. The townsfolk told him the only thing he would find out there was his "tombstone". Well, he did strike it rich. He named his first mine Tombstone and also the town. Ed's brother joined him and they struck more silver in another mine which they named "Toughnut".
Today the town has character residents in full period costumes ready to answer questions and talk about the history of the town to visitors.
We attended the gunfight at the OK Corral. It was interesting. We enjoyed our day at Tombstone.
We then took a ride to Boot Hill cemetery. It is located right outside of town. The dead from the OK Corral gunfight are buried there. If you are in the area, it is a fun place to visit. The title of this blog refers to a quote from Doc Holiday. He said that to Johnny Ringo.
As always, we miss our family and friends and appreciate them very much.

Arrived In The Land of Enchantment
We left Van Horn, Texas this morning about 9:30 AM and headed west on I-10 to Anthony, New Mexico-The Land Of Enchantment. It was an easy drive day of about 146 miles. The weather was great and no wind to slow us down. We arrived at the El Paso West RV Park about 12:30 but that was Mountain Time-we gained an hour.
The park is nice and it has great hot showers. That's always a plus. The showers are very clean and that's even better. We did stop at the New Mexico Welcome Center and got some brochures and maps of the area. I also got some pictures of the area and some along I-10 as well.
We have several things planned for tomorrow.
1. The motor home is going to the shop to get the slide topper spring replaced. It should only take about an hour or two.
2. Grocery shopping
3. Haircuts for both of us
4. Maybe get Miles to a groomer
5. Maybe see a movie
6. Exercise
Will let you know what gets accomplished.
We had a light supper and watched 24. I finished crocheting a baby blanket for Onie's son and his wife's baby. And we called it a day.
As always we appreciate our family and friends and miss them very much.

Scenery Along The Way
Our next stop was Comanche Land RV Park in Fort Stockton, Texas. It was just an overnight stay so really nothing to mention. We left the next day heading west on I-10. Before we left, we called Emma because it was her birthday. She was nine years old but not until 6:00 PM officially she told us. She was going to have a sleep over with her friends and she was excited about that. We had a piano light sent to her. Happy Birthday, pretty girl!
The scenery is changing to what looks like real western sights. Just what John Wayne must have seen. It is quite pretty in a unique way. The mountains in the background of the pictures are the Davis Mountains. And one of the sights that I photographed looked just like Bob. We continued west and stopped at Van Horn, Texas KOA. The park is nice and again the weather is great. Today I did laundry and cleaned the motor home. We will leave tomorrow, Monday, and drive 140 miles to El Paso West campground located in Anthony, New Mexico. I can't quit thinking about the Marty Robbins song.
As always, we appreciate our family and friends and miss them very much.

A Good Travelin' Man
I wanted to just let everyone know what a good cat Miles has been on our trip. He has gotten into the traveling routine quite well. He doesn't complain as long as he can sleep, eat, and have his treats. He is always there to greet us when we return from shopping or sight seeing. Check out Miles' pictures in action. He is definitely the Top Cat!

A Bunch Of Nuts and the Junction Boys
Our next stop was in Junction, Texas. Famous for pecans and "Bear" Bryant training the "Junction Boys". Our campground was very secluded and that was nice for a change. The Llano River runs behind the campground. It is very pretty. Also, the manager of the park fed the deer every night. There were at least 20 to 30 deer at each feeding. He also had a deer stand further up on the property. Doesn't seem quite right though. There is a working pecan farm near the campground. Did you know that the state tree of Texas is the Pecan tree? There are a lot of pecan stands through out the state of Texas. Who knew? Sadly, there was nothing in the area to commerate the Junction Boys. Our stay here was for 2 days. We enjoyed the quiet and scenery.
Next stop-Comanche Land RV Park in Fort Stockton, Texas.

How The West Was Won!
On Tuesday, February 3rd, Bob and I went to downtown San Antonio. It is a very pretty town but getting there is something! Lots of "fly overs" on the highways, lots of highways side by side, lots of turn around lanes and loops. A very busy and confusing highway set up. Good thing we had the GPS, it really helped us navigate those highways. Our plan was to visit the Alamo and tour the River Walk.
First stop-The Alamo. We had a beautiful day and the temperature was in the 70's. It is amazing to see how short the walls are in the Alamo. And to think that 200 men defended the Alamo against 3,000 Mexican soldiers. The Daughters of the Republic of Texas maintain the historic site and they do a great job. We took a tour of the Alamo which included a talk by one of the volunteers. Our guide was Dave and he gave a very informative talk on the history of the Alamo. Did you know that a woman and her infant daughter survived the Alamo attack? General Santa Anna spared their lives, gave the woman some silver coins, and told her to tell everyone what happened at the Alamo. Quite interesting. The courtyard and the gardens at the Alamo are beautiful. The native plants and historic brick walkways are very pretty. A must see if you are in San Antonio.
Walking across the street, we headed to the River Walk. It is an area of downtown that has been restored with lots of eateries and shops. Check out the pictures. We enjoyed seeing all the sights it had to offer. We ate lunch at Broudro's on the River Walk. Jen and Bryan recommended the spot and it was very good. Thanks! After lunch, we called it a day and headed home. We left the next day and some last minute things to get ready for our travel day. Next stop Pecan Valley-Junction, Texas.
As always, we miss our family and friends and appreciate them very much.

A Stream Of Air Streams And Family Visits
While we were in Elmendorf, Texas (just outside of San Antonio)we stayed at Braunig Lake RV Resort. The campground was very nice. It had a rec room, nice laundry facilities, a fishing lake, and friendly staff. Our site was level with full hook ups. We were there for a week and the weather was great-in the 70's most of the time. We also had several visits to make with family and friends and see some of the sites. And before we left the campground, there was an Air Stream Rally coming in to the park-lots of shiny aluminum! Our first visit was to Jeni and Bryan's-our niece and her husband and their two boys. Jen and Bryan are both in the Air Force. They have a beautiful home and we had a great visit. Being with family is the best. We talked and laughed and enjoyed seeing Reilly and Liam-their two little boys. They are so CUTE! We then finished our day by visiting Joe Boyer and his wife Shannon and their little boy, Carson. As it turns out, they only live about 6 miles from Jeni and Bryan. We had a nice visit with them. Joe is completing his residency for Internal medicine and then he will owe the Army four years. Joe is a friend of our son, Joe and Joe B. also played high school baseball for Bob. It was good to see them and know that they are doing fine. Carson is CUTE!
We returned to Jen and Bryan's the next night to watch the Super Bowl and had a wonderful visit.
We will sight see in San Antonio on Tuesday.
As always, we appreciate our family and friends and miss them very much.
